30. Harriet Beecher Stowe writes Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852)

     Stowe had written the book, Uncle Tom's Cabin, which featured the stories of a slave ,Tom, and a mother, Eliza, and her child escape. The book was written using accounts from slaves that Stowe had interviewed. The character Eliza had also escaped using the Underground Railroad.

28. Frederick Douglass publishes "The North Star" (1847) 

     Frederick Douglass was a former slaver, similar to Harriet Tubman. He had escaped and was a vocal abolitionist. He had also pushed for woman's rights. Douglass also used to take part in the Underground Railroad and help fugitive slaves become free.
